Back Pack Pals

Back Pack Pals is a ministry done in cooperation with Madison Presbyterian Church wherein we seek to alleviate
hunger in a segment of our community. Each Monday children come to school hungry. Though the school provides
free or reduced cost lunches, many children do not receive adequate calories over the weekend. Children who come
to school hungry are less able to learn, make poorer grades, and are at risk to become a drop out statistic in future
years. In order to help break that cycle we participate in a ministry that weekly delivers food to hungry children that will
help them defeat gnawing hunger and give them a fighting chance to succeed. Volunteers meet weekly, at 11:00 on
Wednesdays at Madison Presbyterian Church to help load individual pack packs for the children. On Mondays the
backpacks are returned to the school. On Fridays the reloaded back packs are given to the children to take home. At
Christmas time the pack backs include a small gift. This ministry is a great witness of the cooperation of churches to
obey the words of Jesus who reminds his disciples, "I was hungry and you fed me..." For more information on this
ministry and how you can help make difference contact the church office or see Lisa Rose (coordinator).
