| Hands of God Hands of God is an ecumenical ministry serving people in our local community who are seeking emergency help with food or payment of utility bills, and medical prescriptions. Funding is received from churches and individuals, with matching funds provided by Duke Power (for energy needs). Tax-exempt contributions may be sent may be sent to Northwestern Rockingham Community Ministries, P.O. Box 691, Madison, NC 27025. Services are provided entirely by volunteers who monitor telephone calls to the Hands of God. 24 hour- 7 day a week answering machine. All volunteers receive training before being assigned a week of service (Mon-Sun). A resource person is always available to assist volunteers in the decisions involved in processing the requests for help. While Hands of God is not intended to replace Federal, State, or County programs it does help bridge the gap until these agencies can be utilized. An emergency food pantry is also maintained and contributions are always welcome. Financial donations are also necessary to meet the growing number of needs within our community. Of course, volunteers are always needed to help screen calls. If you want more information or can volunteer some time to participate in this important outreach please contact the church office or see Mabel Baird or Sibyl Beaver (church representatives). |
