The Archbishop of Canterbury once said, "The church is the only organization organized primarily for the benefit of its nonmembers." We take these words to heart at First Baptist of Madison. Our mission and vision is to be the presence of Christ to our friends and neighbors.
Christian Discipleship is as important today as it was when this class posed for a photo on the church stairs. The ways we educate have changed. Today we offer Christian Education through the traditional Sunday School as well as through innovative seminar style classes and at home studies. Development in Christian Discipleship is provided for our young through retreats, A Kid's Advent, and Vacation Bible School Days. These educational opportunities are open to everyone.
Prayer Shawl Ministry is our regular gathering of women who lift prayer concerns before the God of love and mercy. While praying they knit "prayer shawls" as a tangible reminder for the recipient of those petitions. In turn these shawls are given to the individuals with love and our assurance of continued prayer support.
Kids Hope is our mentoring ministry for "at risk" kids at Dillard Elementary School. Our volunteers are making difference one child at a time.
Back Pack Pals is a ministry we do in friendly cooperation with Madison Presbyterian Church. Each week we provide additional nutrition for hungry children in the elementary schools in our community.
Hands of God is an ecumenical ministry serving people in our local community who are in need of emergency assistance for food, utility payments and medical prescriptions. (336) 548-4204
The Baptist Men also known as the Men's Group meets monthly (on the first Saturday morning following Family Night) at Bob's Restaurant in Madison. After breakfast the men tackle needed projects to help church and community. All men are invited to attend, even if they cannot stay for the project of the day.
Meals on Wheels provides nutritious meals for seniors living alone. Our church is part of the community effort to ensure that those "at risk" of hunger in our community are fed.
Global Missions is a CBF Offering that goes to field personnel salaries, benefits and ministry expenses. This Offering is the primary way CBF field personnel are funded, making your gifts an essential part of spreading the Gospel and meeting physical needs in the world.
